General Questions

Is Worldwide Book Drive a Non-Profit Organization?

Worldwide Book Drive is a social venture not a non-profit organization. That is, we are a business working to harness the power of commerce to benefit society. We work very closely with a number of non-profit organizations to source and distribute needed books. We believe we can more effectively work with our local, national and worldwide literacy and recycling partners by operating as a for-profit social venture.

Where do the books come from?

Private organizations, libraries, students, professors, families, and everyday people give books and magazines that they are not using.

What happens to the books that are given to the Worldwide Book Drive?

All of the books and magazines we collect are sorted and distributed to the places they are most needed to benefit society and to build the company.

Most of the books we receive are made available for donations to qualified schools, inner-city community centers, international development organizations and other community outreach entities.

Some books are sold for revenue to cover the overhead expenses of collections, warehousing, sorting, processing, recycling and the growth and development of Worldwide Book Drive.  Come visit our on-line store, or if you are in the area come see our new brick-and-mortar store in Orem!

We are the only hardback book recycler in the Mountain West Region.  That is, we actually take the time to remove the spines and sort the paper from obsolete hardbound books so that the pages can be turned back into paper.
